The Wall

If the circle which is drawn by the arm’s length means a person’s domain, then when we push it into the scale of a room, the boundary will be the wall. If we push it further, then this boundary could be larger as fence, river or the border between country and country. People define this personal range to protect themselves, distinguish self and others, but also break the connection between each other.

The aim of this design is to break the wall between people and people, to build a channel of communication on the border.

Taking the long way round

An extension helping users visualize a chain of reactions that a simple movement from arm’s length can create.
Inspired by traditional constructions used in old Victorian houses, these systems set off a series of fleeting and temporary events to be experienced by a passerby who is both involved and detached.

Tantalus Dinner

The ritual of eating is a key element in my work. In this series of objects, I intend to create a tableware set by casting my own body.
By casting myself, I copy, dismantle and offer parts of ‘me’, in order to provoke new, unusual relationships between the maker and the user. The work explores the human body and how we fit into and relate to our embodied shapes.
Ceramic objects are often related to rituals and porcelain bares a remarkable resemblance to the purity and smoothness of the human flesh. The combination of sensuality and taboo can lead the use to contradictory impulses of attraction and repulsion.

Handrail

The work “Handrail” is part of an ongoing design research on human movement and the interfacing guidelines of space.  The work is aiming to provoke handrails primal function and their loyalty to the architectural structure. The three dimensional manipulation in the object’s operative design allows new sensual experience through touch and motivates new alternative movement in space.
